Poles Apart by Terry Fallis
I started reading an eBook version of this book borrowed from my library. It sat on my Kobo for about a week before I got around to reading it, but as with all of his books I was hooked. But then when I was about half way through (and really getting into the story) and stuck waiting at an arena with nothing else to do, my Kobo froze. Then the screen went weird and after wasting hours trying to fix it, I finally gave up and just borrowed a print copy.
Although I'm really into technology and love the convenience of having loads of books inside a small device that fits perfectly inside all my purses ready to be read at any time or place, the ease of picking up and simply reading a "real" print book is irreplaceable.

Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman
Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman by Haruki Murakami
A collection of 24 stories that undoubtedly will span the surreal to the mundane. I am looking forward to getting lost in his dream-like worlds.

Little Libraries
I was out for a walk today and I passed this lovely little library stuck into someone's front lawn.
Since I happened to have a bag of books in my hand (on the way to visit a friend after having just cleaned up my overflowing bookcase) I opened it up, took a look inside and found a book that made me laugh - Why I hate Canadians by Will Ferguson. Inside is a sweet little stamp that says "Always a Gift...Little Free Library...Never for Sale" and the address, so that I can remember where I found it.
I replaced it with one of my books and after reading the lovely quote by Roald Dahl (written on the side of the box) went on my way with a ridiculous smile on my face.
Lately I have found lots of these little libraries around my neighbourhood. Every one is different, but they all have had the same effect of making me smile and feel great about where I live. Plus I have found some quirky books that I might never have discovered.
So the next time I'm out walking my dog I will stuff a few books in my pockets to share - just in case I find a new, or revisit an old little library.

Find Me
Find Me and What the World Will Look Like When All the Water Leaves Us by Laura Van Den Berg
What the world will look like when all the water leaves us is a collection of beautifully written short stories. Once I got reading it was hard to put down. I'm looking forward to starting her latest (and first) novel Find Me.
