Wine with Food

Day 68 - Wine with Food by Eric Asimov & Florence Fabricant

Last night we hosted a wine and cheese night with friends. Our challenge was to pair cheeses and wines from the same country to see if they go well together or not. But our big problem was countries that produce yummy cheese don't always produce great wine. I have posted a picture of our menu to get an idea of what our pairings were like. We also served meats and other foods associated with the countries such as olives, prosciutto, halva, focaccia bread and baguettes. It was a fun night and we learnt that both France and Italy make good cheeses and wines but Greece and Germany make far better cheeses and meats than wine!
