Cookbooks

It has been a while since I last posted. I guess posting a book-a-day got to be too much over the summer. So much for an easy project to get me blogging everyday! However, lately I have had an abundance of interesting books pass through my hands. Many of these have been cookbooks with delicious looking photographs.  My favourites from last week are:

Clean Slate: A cookbook and guide: Reset Your Health, Detox Your Body, and Feel Your Best by Editors of Martha Stewart Living

This has lots of simple, nutritious yet delicious recipes and is laid out in an easy to use way with plenty of pictures. My favourite section is the "Reboot: Drink to your health" chapter that lists blended and juiced drink recipes that are divided into sections based on whether your aim is to detoxify, boost your antioxidants, hydrate, or to get energized.

This book has changed my perception of salads! It is a collection of traditional salad recipes from around the world combined with new twists. Each chapter focuses on a type of ingredient (Herbs and Leaves, Vegetables, Roots and Squash, Peas and Beans, Grains and Pasta, Rice, Cheese, Meat, Fruity Salads, Salads for Dessert, Dips, The Dressing Room, and The Prop Cupboard) and has an introduction with stories about its relationship to the salad.

The Vietnamese Market Cookbook by Van Tran and Anh Vu

I am a huge fan of Vietnamese cooking and this book is filled with delicious sounding recipes and beautiful pictures. It is my daughters favourite cookbook from this recent collection. She is determined to make at least one of these recipes everyday this week!
