Lately I have been reading the Guardians of Childhood books by William Joyce to my children. We were at the library this evening and I was looking at other books written by the same author and found this beautiful story called The Fantastic Flying Books of Mr Morris Lessmore. It is a touching story about how the power of a story can save the day. The story began as a tribute to the late Bill Morris, a pioneer of library promotions. But then William Joyce's home state was devastated by hurricane Katrina and interrupted his progress on the book, thus the story of Morris Lessmore evolved. (Information taken from inside the book jacket). The above animated short film was made before the book was completed and is a film that I saw many months ago but at the time did not realize that it was written and illustrated by such a prominent children's author.
Take a look and be drawn into a magical world of books...
